Sophia ChesworthSinger / Songwriter
Teenage school girl Sophia Chesworth is going about it in her own way. The 17-year-old songwriter from Sydney’s inner west has never known a moment that music wasn’t her pathway. From a young age the habitual hummer knew singing was what she wanted to do in life. Always the hairsplitter, Sophia picked up the guitar not long after her 10th birthday and at the ripe old age of 12 started writing songs. “I started to write my own music when I was 12, for some reason the songs all sounded a little bit country pop. I then started to listen to more country artists and my love for country music grew from there” said Sophia. Her commitment to songwriting and her craft shows maturity beyond her years, with her 5 track EP written at the age of 16 and produced by the award-winning Matt Fell, the songs have been meticulously crafted by Sophia, and include themes of teenage life, love, insecurity and hopefulness. With Sophia’s melodies and Matt’s guiding hand, together they have created a subculture of country pop. It’s incomparable, it’s young and it’s so bloody damn catchy. -
